Joseph is a native Houstonian who graduated from James Madison High School, before receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Texas. Joseph is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Joseph is a frequent author and speaker at continuing legal education seminars. His professional memberships include the State Bar of Texas, State Bar of Illinois, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Lawyers Association, the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists (he is a former President), the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and the American Board of Trial Advocates-Advocate.
